Our School Philosophy

Gaelscoil Chill Dara is a Catholic, all-Irish, Co-Educational Primary School that is located directly outside Newbridge, in Co. Kildare. Pupils range from 4 to 13 years of age. The school operates under the rules of the Department of Education and Science and the Primary School Curriculum is taught here.
At present, there are 376 pupils enrolled and most of them live in Newbridge, Kildare Town, Rathangan or Kilcullen. There is another Gaelscoil located in Naas and Kildare. There are 20 on the team of teachers and 4 on the external team. There are 15 classes in the school and two resource teachers. It is our intention to help the pupils develop self-confidence and respect for other people. Teachers keep in regular contact with parents.


Gaelscoil Chill Dara operates under the 1998 Education Act and under the Rules for National Schools set out by the Department of Education and Science.The School is under the patronage of Foras na Gaeilge. Periodically, the Patron names the Board of Management. The Board of Management are responsible for the direct running of the school.Gaelscoil Chill Dara’s Board of Management comprises the following:
Two nominated by the Patron( Colm Ó Gógáin, (Chairman) and Proinsias de Paor),
The School Principal ( Niamh Uí Chadhla )(Secretary),
Two parents ( Oliver Ó Diolúin & Linda Uí hEathairn),
One teacher (Karen Uí Chonchúir ),
Two additional members ( Treasa Uí Riagáin and Mícheál Ó Dubhghiolla )
